Verification
Lab Testing
Every batch we sell is tested by an independent laboratory before it reaches you. GC-MS analysis does not lie. Neither do we.
Our Testing Process
01
Batch Sampling
When a new batch arrives from our distilling partners, we immediately draw samples from multiple vials before the lot is accepted into inventory. Sampling is blind — the tester does not know the origin or expected profile.
02
GC-MS Analysis
Samples are submitted to an accredited independent laboratory for gas chromatography–mass spectrometry (GC-MS) analysis. The instrument separates the oil into its individual chemical compounds and identifies each one by molecular weight. A genuine oud has a characteristic fingerprint — specific sesquiterpenes and chromones in precise ratios.
03
Profile Verification
Our master perfumer compares the GC-MS output against reference profiles for the declared origin and distillation method. Adulterants (synthetic agarwood oil, DPG, benzyl benzoate, cheap fixatives) have distinct molecular signatures that are immediately visible. A batch fails if any unexpected compound appears above trace levels.
04
Certificate Issued
Batches that pass receive a numbered Certificate of Analysis. The certificate is linked to the product SKU and batch code. Every product on our site shows the batch code — use it to look up the corresponding report. We do not ship before the certificate is issued.
What GC-MS Catches
Synthetic agarwood oil (agarospirol imitation)
Diethyl phthalate & DPG (cheap diluents)
Benzyl benzoate (fixative adulterant)
Sandalwood or cedarwood substitution
Mineral oil or paraffin contamination
Incorrect geographic origin markers
Over-diluted concentration (below stated %)
“If it doesn't pass, it doesn't ship.”
Batches that fail testing are refused and returned to the supplier. No exceptions.
